There were two first-time state champions crowned on the first night of the GHSA basketball tournament at the Macon Coliseum, while two other programs added to their legacy.

Eight classifications will determine a state championship for boys and girls at the Macon Coliseum. 

Only two champions were able to defend their state football titles and two teams won it all for the first time in school history.

Milton's defense caused four turnovers and used them to beat Walton and win its second state championship. 

Thomas County Central completes an unbeaten season and brings home its first state championship since 1997.
