Apparently dressing up as the Earl of Grantham or Mr. Carson for Halloween was too dull.

Rob Cockerman, a sculptor and writer from California, decided to go as Highclere Castle, the setting of Downton Abbey. Cockerman created the costume out of styrofoam and high resolution photos of the castle that he stitched together.

One of his kids shot the video below of Cockerman in full Highclere Castle regalia.

It cost him $36 dollars to make. In case you’re inspired to duplicate his efforts, you can check out how he made it on his website www.cockeyed.com.

Real History Of Highclere Castle

In season 2 of the series, Downton Abbey was turned into a war hospital for injured soldiers who fought in World War I. That storyline is based on fact. Lady Almina, the Countess of Carnavan and estate owner at the time, traded in her high society parties and pearls for an infirmary and nurse’s uniform. She personally tended to the sick soldiers.
