Primary Content
The Atlanta Police Department is looking to hire Spanish speaking officers and 911 operators.
A Department press release announcing the hiring program highlights the need for a more diverse speaking law enforcement workforce, “Officers from diverse backgrounds bring an important perspective and cultural sensitivity that furthers APD’s goal to serve and protect citizens across the wide spectrum of Atlanta’s diverse population,” said Officer Gonzalez, the Department’s Hispanic liaison.
A recently created public service announcement features Spanish speaking officers and is aimed at attracting officers to meet the needs of a more diverse community. The PSA will be featured on the Department website and throughout social media. It highlights the benefits of a career with the Atlanta Police Department, including competitive pay & benefits, along with tuition reimbursement and housing incentives.
According to a U.S. Census Bureau the percentage of Hispanic residents in Atlanta grew 16.5% between 2000 and 2010.
