WellStar in Marietta has been recognized as a Top Place for Senior Employees

Marietta-based WellStar Health System and Atlanta-based Southern Company has been named by the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) as among “Best Employers for Workers Over 50”.

Wellstar earned the #10 spot on the list, while Southern Company comes in at #22.

Overall, the National Institutes of Health is ranked #1.

According to the AARP report, WellStar Health System’s Guidance Resources Program provides retirement and estate planning as well as career counseling and support to employees, retirees and their families. The WellStar Cents program is a Web-based discount purchasing program giving employees access to thousands of name-brand vendors for significant discounts while earning points that can be converted into purchasing dollars. Through the WellStar FlexWorks program, retirees can elect to work as little or as much as they want, providing the position allows for flexible hours.

SouthernLifeStyle is a comprehensive wellness benefits program offered to all Southern Company employees. Through this program, nurses in on-site health offices administer flu shots and perform free annual lab profiles. Physicians perform complete physicals on specified weekdays at selected locations. Weight loss, smoking cessation and disease management programs are also offered. Employees receive points for healthy behaviors through the Chips Rewards Program.
