UrbanSitter.com – Coming to Atlanta
Primary Content
The newest tool in the centuries old job of babysitting is coming to Atlanta.
UrbanSitter.com was founded in 2010 as a Facebook page. It connects parents with willing babysitters in urban settings.
Currently the site offers services in 12 major U.S. cities including Boston, New York, Chicago, and San Francisco. An estimated 70,000 people are registered users, with about 45,000 parents and 25,000 sitters.
The site recently added new features including sitter reviews and videos.
Atlanta has recently been targeted as a city for UrbanSitter.com expansion.
According to a report at Forbes.com, setting up shop in new cities is a six week process and means, first of all, finding a local marketing manager that’s well connected in that geographical region. “Typically these are usually moms and they have had professional careers in the past and maybe they’ve taken time off for kids, but they’re very well tapped into their communities,” CEO Lynne Perkins explained. This manager will identify groups or organizations where the company might find parents with children—a population in need of UrbanSitter services with a network with which to spread the world about it.
