Smashburger plans to open 23 new locations in the Atlanta area.

Smashburger is expanding its presence in five markets, which include Atlanta, the company announced. Other cities include Orlando, Jacksonville, Oakland, and Charlotte.

Robert Marshall, of Bamaberto LLC, has partnered with Smashburger to open 23 new restaurants in the Atlanta area. Mr. Marshall formerly held an operations position at McDonald's.
