Resume Follow-Up Tips

Don Goodman, of Careerealism, has given great advice on how to follow up on submitted resumes. Below are his three general rules to follow.
1. Follow up one to two weeks after having submitting your resume. This allows the employer time to review submitted applications.
2. Follow up in the morning as opposed to the afternoon. You will have a better chance of reaching someone in the morning, and they may be less busy in the morning, as well.
3. Follow up with a phone call using the opportunity to engage in a conversation with the appropriate contact person. The idea is to showcase your strengths and knowledge of the the company, not just to ask if they have received your resume.
