A Great State Rivalry
Primary Content
This week on Football Fridays in Georgia we will broadcast one of the best rivalries in the state. The Battle of Five Forks Trickum, as the 5-2 Parkview Panthers take on the 5-2 Broncos of Brookwood in a huge game in Region 7, 7A. This will be the 35th meeting between these two schools that are just five miles apart in Gwinnett County. The Panthers the pride of Lilburn, Georgia, has won 4 state titles, in 1997, 2001, 2002, and 2003 and the Broncos of Snellville, Georgia who won state championships in 1996 and again in 2010. There will be a lot of talent on the field for this one and lots of prep players that have college scouts drooling. Parkview will be led by sophomore Malik Washington and Junior running back Christian Malloy while Brookwood has a pair of ESPN 4 stars in Linebacker Leonard Warner and wide receiver Mathew Hill. Matt Stewart will have all the details in his GPB Recruiting Roundup. Jon Nelson spent a very busy week in south Georgia, visiting communities and schools, and coaches and players who were impacted by Hurricane Matthew. He spent a lot of time with Glynn Academy head coach Rocky Hidalgo and many others who have had to endure the challenges the hurricane sent their way. It is a terrific two part story and you won’t want to miss it. Jackie Brittain will try to keep up with the Jones as she delves into this big rivalry between Parkview and Brookwood and also tells the tale of two brothers, both who played for Brookwood back in the day, Broncos head coach Phillip Jones and his sibling, Dacula head coach Tommy Jones. GPB Sports and The Governor’s Office of Highway Safety will once again explain the dangers of distracted driving in our Heads Up Georgia segment and Jackie will talk about the differences in Urgent Care and Emergent Care in our Cignature Moment. Larry Smith will return to the booth and have the latest in his Komatsu Forklift Keys to the Game segment. Jon will talk with Parkview coach Eric Godfree and I will talk with the Bronco’s head man Phillip Jones. It is hard to believe that there are just 3 regular season games to go under those Friday night lights. Next week we will be in Moultrie,Georgia for the Lowndes at Colquitt County game and then on November 4th, it is another Football Fridays in Georgia Inside Edition Show as we find out which teams make the playoffs and where those teams will play in the post season. The All Access Pass Pregame Show kicks off at 7pm from Brookwood Community Stadium in Snellville, Georgia, only on GPB-TV and GPB.org. Don’t miss it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
