Emotions will be high when GPB's Football Fridays in Georgia returns to Grayson for a match with Lowndes. It will mark the return of first-year Lowndes coach Adam Carter, who led the Rams to a state championship in 2020.
The high school football coaching carousel continues to spin in Georgia. There have been almost 100 coaching changes so far and a handful of vacancies still waiting to be filled. Each year the coaching turnover is roughly 20-percent, but this year could be higher than average due to some big job openings.
On this week's Football Fridays in Georgia podcast, Hannah and Jon talk with Houston County's Jeremy Edwards on his team's early success and the challenges of being a first year head coach. Edward's mentor, Von Lassiter, also joins the show to talk about Bleckley County's undefeated start and the lessons he's learned over his decade-plus career as a head coach.
Spring Football (capitalization intentional) is one of the four seasons here in the state- the second one that I use... Football, Spring Football, 'cruitin', and National Signing Day... And it can come at you in a couple of different ways... it can come in front of a big crowd, on an atypical day of the week, or in front of an audience of a few.
On this month's Football Fridays in Georgia podcast, Hannah and Jon talk with new Lowndes Head Coach Zach Grage. After a whirlwind hiring process that took a little over a week, the Former Thomasville Coach promises to bring 'simple, fast, fun and first class football' to the storied Lowndes program.
On this week's Football Fridays In Georgia podcast, GPB Sports' Hannah Goodin and Jon Nelson are joined by Lowndes' Head Coach Jamey DuBose. The Coach talks about playing in one of the toughest regions, not only in the state but the entire Southeast. He also dishes out the scoop on the team's daily breakfast routine that just may be one of the secrets to their success.
We have got another fun one for you tonight on GPB's Football Fridays in Georgia, as the perennial state power and fifth-ranked Lowndes Vikings travel north to Atlanta to take on the eighth-ranked North Cobb Warriors.
Randy McPherson has another great team in the 2017 edition of the Lowndes Vikings. The coach has been patrolling the Vikings sidelines for 16 years, collecting 151 victories and winning three state titles in 2004, 2005, and 2007.
