It’s tough being on top of the GPB Top 10 rankings if you’re a Class A Division II team.

This week Manchester moved up to No. 1 after last week’s top-ranked Irwin County team suffered its first loss. Manchester is the third team to be ranked at the top of Division II this season.

Manchester did not play last week but moved up one notch from No. 2 when Irwin County lost to No. 3 Brooks County 39-13. Two-time defending state champion Bowdon, who was No. 1 earlier this season before losing to Manchester, climbed back to No. 2.

“Division II is very competitive,” said GPB’s Jon Nelson. “There are a lot of teams in that classification that could win it all.”

The other No. 1 teams remained the same: Carrollton in 6A, Milton in 5A, Marist in 4A, Sandy Creek in 3A, Pierce County in 2A, Toombs County in Class A Division I and Savannah Christian in Private.

There are five new teams in the rankings this week: Lowndes at No. 10 in 6A, Perry at No. 7 in 4A, Jenkins at No. 10 in 3A, Hapeville Charter at No. 10 in 2A, and Metter at No. 10 in A Division II.
