Meet the Patels is about 30 year old actor Ravi Patel’s search for love and his Hindu parents’ insistence on helping him by playing matchmaker. The true-life romance comedy which was also documented by Ravi’s sister Geeta, delves into how culture and identity influences the most intimate decision of all.

After the screening, Dad’s Garage Theatre Company will keep the laughs flowing with an improv performance. Indie Lens Pop-Up is sponsoring this screening. It’s a neighborhood series that brings people together for film screenings and community-driven conversations. Featuring documentaries seen on the PBS series Independent Lens, Indie Lens Pop-Up draws local residents, leaders, and organizations together to discuss what matters most, from newsworthy topics to family and relationships.
