Lowndes faces Coffee tonight with a chance to clinch Region 1-AAAAA for the third time in four years. The Vikings have won 14 of the last 15 in the series and should cruise against the Trojans. Meanwhile, across the county, Valdosta (7-1) has a chance to clinch a playoff berth against Tift County. No worries, Tiger fans, Carver had no trouble with their winless opponents, winning 47-0. … Walton faces Wheeler tonight in what used to be a huge rivalry in Cobb County. The Raiders have won 11 of the past 12 and have taken a 19-18 lead in a series they once trailed by a significant margin. In the 80’s and 90’s, these two rivals played for playoff berths and subregion titles (not to mention bragging rights) on a regular basis. But from 1988 to 1995, Wheeler won 11 consecutive meetings, including three playoff games.
