Atlanta has come a long way since it was a quiet little town called Terminus. Today, it has become the entertainment capital of the South. From music to museums, there are literally thousands of things for locals and visitors to do.

1. This video provides several examples of movies and television shows filmed in Georgia. Select two of your favorite movies or TV shows and guess where it's filmed. Then research where the productions were filmed. Discuss as a class or in small groups if the actual filming locations surprised you.

Film and television have brought notoriety to the state, its history and geography and its people. The industry has also created many jobs and a lot of wealth.
2. Why does the state's film commission encourage filmmakers to come to Georgia?
Filmmakers bring jobs and money with them to Georgia. They hire Georgians, rent cars and buildings, and purchase local products. The film industry also generates a lot of tax revenue.
