The National Weather Service canceled its winter weather advisory for all counties, but a wind chill advisory goes into effect from 2 to 11 a.m. Wednesday.

It’s getting colder in Georgia, and that could turn Tuesday’s rain into Wednesday’s slick, dangerous black ice on roadways.

Keith Stelman with the National Weather Service in Peachtree City said it depends on how quickly we feel the chill.

“All of the rain that fell across the state today, how much of that actually dries out before the freezing and subfreezing temps move in to give us potentially a black ice threat this evening into the overnight hours,” Stelman said.

The Georgia Department of Transportation has pre-treated more than 14,000 lane miles of interstates, overpasses and bridges since Monday morning to keep ice from forming.
