The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for North and Central Georgia.

The weather includes rain and a wintry mix of snow and freezing rain in the morning hours today. In some areas, ice accumulations of up to a tenth of an inch are possible.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect today (Tuesday) across portions of North Georgia, where a light glaze of ice could occur with freezing rain. The advisory ends between 10 a.m. and noon from north to south.

Wednesday through Monday, Jan 22, there will be dangerously cold conditions surging across the region Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning, leading to wind chills of -5 to 10 degrees.

A wind chill advisory has been issued for much of North and Central Georgia for Tuesday evening and night. Temperatures will moderate somewhat on Thursday and Friday. However, dangerously cold conditions will return next weekend.

 

Hazardous Weather Conditions

 

Precautions:

Very slippery sidewalks, roads and bridges are possible. The hazardous conditions could affect morning or evening commutes. The cold wind chills could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken.

Slow down and use caution while traveling. Prepare for possible power outages.

Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves.
