The Atlanta indie FILM scene has continued to grow, and certainly there are more opportunities for filmmakers trying to make it than there were a decade ago. But some local filmmakers still feel they are not taken as seriously or given the same consideration as their counterparts in Los Angeles or New York.
It's been nearly 10 years since Andre and his partner in Atlanta rap act OutKast, Antwan "Big Boi" Patton, headlined a sold-out, three-night stand at Centennial Olympic Park — and two decades since the duo released Speakerboxxx/The Love Below, now the best-selling rap album of all time.
For decades, developers have explored what to do with Underground Atlanta. But now, the long vacant downtown retail center is entering a new phase as a grassroots arts hub, recently hiring set designer Marina Skye and artist Mike Stasny to direct the project.
