Last Halloween, the FDA said that some cinnamon, a spice loved by many kids and adults, was contaminated with lead, a metal that can cause irreversible damage in babies and young children.

No illnesses have been reported in connection to the alerts. The FDA has recommended that manufacturers voluntarily recall their products.

The brands of cinnamon are typically sold at discount retailers, such as Save a Lot, Family Dollar and Dollar Tree. The alert follows the recalls of 3 brands of cinnamon-flavored applesauce pouches.
