Forecasters warned a wave of dangerous storms in the U.S. could march through parts of the South early Thursday, after deadly storms a day earlier spawned damaging tornadoes and massive hail.

Forecasters now say 8 to 15 inches of rain could fall in the mountains and foothills of Southern California.

Recovery from Hurricane Idalia continues in South Georgia after the storm brought heavy rain and winds up to 90 mph. For some, recovery is about maintaining perspective.

Tropical Storm watches and areas of flash and urban flooding, some of which may be locally significant, are expected across Southern Georgia through Wednesday, spreading into portions of the eastern Carolinas Wednesday into Thursday.

The most recent hurricane to make landfall in Georgia was Hurricane Michael in October 2018. Farms in Georgia lost billions of dollars after top crops were ravaged by the storm.
