Georgia has 80,000 more jobs now than a year ago reports Labor Commissioner Mark Butler.

The Georgia Department of Labor has just announced that January is the seventh consecutive month that the unemployment rate has declined.

The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate in December was 7.4 percent, whereas in January the numbers decreased to 7.3 percent. However, the big change is from one year ago January when the rate was 8.6 percent.

State Labor Commissioner Mark Butler states that Georgia employers "are adding jobs in several important industries." Those industries would include manufacturing, accommodations and food services, construction, and administrative and support services.
