Discovery Education Hosts Live Virtual Field Trip To The Arctic Tundra
Primary Content
Discovery Education and Polar Bears International are again teaming up to present students and teachers with a no-cost Virtual Field Trip to the Arctic Tundra. Through the magic of technology, participants will be transported to the shores of the Hudson Bay in Churchill, Canada, to witness the annual polar bear migration, investigate the Arctic habitat, and explore the lives and careers of the people that work and live in the polar region.
This year, Discovery Education and Polar Bears International are offering students and teachers two ways to participate in the Tundra Connections virtual experience. During Experience Polar Bears on the Tundra, occurring on Wednesday, November 13 at 1 PM ET and again on Thursday, November 14 at 12:30 PM ET, participants will travel to the Arctic to take a deep dive into the region’s unique ecosystem. Among the topics students and teachers will explore during this roughly 30-minute live event are adaptations, sea ice habitat, climate change, and of course, polar bears!
In addition to Experience Polar Bears on the Tundra, Discovery Education and Polar Bears International are hosting two live question and answer sessions on Wednesday, November 13, at 2:30 PM ET and Thursday, November 14 at 2:00 pm ET. During these informal hang-outs, Polar Bears International’s experts will answer as many questions as possible about the Arctic and discuss the extraordinary wildlife that makes the tundra ecosystem their home. Both Experience Polar Bears on the Tundra and the Q&A will be supported by classroom instructional resources designed to help educators maximize these exciting experiences.
Both events will be archived within Discovery Education Experience in both the Polar Bears content channel and the Virtual Field Trip content channel.
