Hey Did You Know... About the Marching Bands

Marching band is defined as a physical activity in which a group of instrumental musicians generally perform outdoors and incorporate some type of marching and dancing with their musical performance. There has actually been a blockbuster movie made based on Marching Bands called Drumline featuring Nick Canon.
Marching Band usually wears some type of uniform and has a type of military precession as they perform during half time.
There are many different marching styles but the two major matching styles are traditional style and core style.
Hey Did You Know… that there are multiple honorary greek organizations dedicated to serve the band and promote the brotherhood and sisterhood that music creates.
Such Musical greeks include: Tau Beta Sigma, Kappa Kappa Psi, Sigma Alpha Iota, Phi Mu Alpha, and many more.
Hey Did You know… that the first marching Band halftime show was performed by the University of Illinois marching band.
Marching bands consist of drum majors, woodwinds, brass, dancers, and of course the drumline.
In order to be members of a marching band, it requires fluent education of how to play your instrument, the ability to memorize music, spots on the field, and of course…. Dance routines.
Some marching bands stand on the field and perform their half-time show while others use their bodies to make fun and interesting formations on the field.
Most formations are pictures or symbols that relates to the music, however the majority of marching bands shows their school spirit by displaying their schools initials on the field.
