There are new No. 1 teams in Class A, with Prince Avenue Christian ascending to the top in Division I and Clinch County moving up in Division II.

Prince Avenue (2-0) beat Athens Academy 48-14 and took over No. 1 when Brooks County lost to Cook. Clinch County (3-0) beat Miller 50-14 and moved up to replace Schley County, which lost to Early County.

"When we're in non-region play, I look at the difference in classifications to figure out how many spots I'll drop a school after a loss,” said GPB’s Jon Nelson, a voter in the poll. “Traditionally, it won't be a lot of spots if you're playing up versus a loss against a smaller classification. Thus, that's why I didn't drop Schley and Brooks a great deal in my rankings this week."

The other No. 1 teams remained the same: Buford in Class 7A, Hughes in 6A, Cartersville in 5A, North Oconee in 4A, Cedar Grove in 3A and Fitzgerald in 2A.
