$1 billion of investment is headed for downtown Atlanta, as the Falcons & City leaders agree on a new stadium.

The announcement ends years of speculation about when, where, and how the Falcons would get their new home.

Thursday afternoon Falcons owner Arthur Blank joined Mayor Kasim Reed and Atlanta City Council members to announce the final agreement that has the Falcons paying about 80% of the entire cost with city Hotel & Motel taxes covering the balance.

A recent study conducted by Georgia State University predicts the construction of the new facility along with the agreed to infrastructure improvements in the area neighborhoods will net about 4500 full-time jobs for the state of Georgia over a three year period.

The new stadium is expected to put the City of Atlanta in a better position to attract major events such as the Super Bowl, the NCAA Football National Championship Game, a Major League Soccer franchise, and possibly the World Cup.
