Service related jobs dominate teh metro Atlanta economy

Economists call the move to an economy based on the production of services, as opposed to goods, “post-industrial”.

Atlanta is one of the leading metropolitan areas for the ratio of services produced to goods produced.

The national average ratio of services to goods is 3.22 to 1. Atlanta is currently 5.62 to 1, placing the city 7th among U.S. metropolitan areas with populations in excess of 1 million.

The Washington D.C. metro area leads the way with a services to goods ratio of 11.17 to 1.
