The always changing job market now allows individuals to hire themselves.
Yes, it is true. You can now review a list of “tasks” that pay a specified amount and choose the one best for you.
A report at Atlantic.com highlights a new job marketplace offered by companies that pay you by the completion of a single task.
One such company is TaskRabbit.com. The site includes a listing of the tasks being offered and the average amount paid. For example, assembling IKEA products pays an average of $42; picking up for a donation pays $27; Event help pays $80.
Other sites like fiverr.com and rev.com also pay people per task.
While these “jobs” are more like “task completion” and pay no benefits, it is undoubtedly a new way to work.
