Savannah Area Mall - with 1,200 Construction Jobs - Underway

It will be the largest shopping mall between Atlanta, GA and Jacksonville, FL.
The developer, Ben Carter, knows a thing or two about building large malls. He is the man behind the Mall of Georgia in Gwinnett County.
According to a report on SavannahNow.com the interest in Savannah for this type project is very strong, “The Savannah market has been quite attractive to the people we’re selling it to and their interest levels have come along very quickly,” Carter said. “They're also very impressed with the number of hotel rooms, exposure that we have on I-95 and the growth occurring...”
Monday the City of Pooler approved a concept master site plan for the 1 million square foot development. This means the initial phase of construction can begin.
The construction phase of the $220 million project is expected to create 1,200 jobs. The long-term employment for the development is expected to be 1,500 jobs.
A target date of April, 2015 has been identified for the grand opening. The mall is expected to have four anchor stores, restaurants, and hotels all on-site.
