A newly released report from The Economist ranks Atlanta as the 9th “Most Competitive City” in the U.S. and 33rd in the world by the year 2025.
The study looked as a city’s ability to attract capital, businesses, talent, and visitors.
New York and London top the list at #1 and #2 respectively.
According to the report, 32 indicators were examined for each city. Indicators are grouped into eight distinct, thematic categories and assigned weights: economic strength 30%, physical capital and financial maturity 10% each, institutional character and human capital 15% each, global appeal 10%, social and cultural character 5%, and environment and natural hazards 5%. The Index includes a total of 27 qualitative and five quantitative indicators. A city’s overall ranking in the benchmark Index is a weighted score of the individual categories.
