Law School Graduates Face a Tough Time Finding Jobs in Some States

The question of whether to attend law school may be determined by where you live.

A new book ‘The Lawyer Bubble: A Profession in Crisis’ documents that in many states the ratio of lawyers to jobs is terrible.

Certain states like California, Michigan, Massachusetts, Ohio, Nebraska, and Mississippi are especially difficult for finding legal work. In fact, these states have more than 1 of every 6 new law school graduates unable to find a job as an attorney.

Meanwhile states like Georgia, Tennessee, Wyoming, Nevada, and Texas have been able to maintain a normal ratio between law school graduates and law related employment.

So while the employment search for new attorneys is difficult, the challenge may just be location. According to the website LawCrossing.com there are currently almost 55,000 openings for attorneys across the United States.
