What are you doing for Flipped Learning Day which happens to be today, Friday September 6? Educators across the globe are participating in it.

The Flipped Learning Network describes flipped learning as the following:
“In the Flipped Learning model, some or most of direct instruction is delivered outside the group learning space using video or other modes of delivery. Class time, then, is available for students to engage in hands-on learning, collaborate with their peers, and evaluate their progress and for teachers to provide one-on-one assistance, guidance and inspiration.”

You can flip any subject. The object is to step out of the traditional “sage on the stage” mode and cultivate learning at a student's own pace.

PBS Learning Media has created several lessons that are perfect for Flipped Learning Day and beyond. Flipped Day 2013 gives an overview of what flipped lessons are and provides one flipped lesson entitled “Design and Build a Tangle-Free Headphone Holder.” Grades 5-13+.

Also view the lessons on Inspiring Middle School Literacy. Here is the description:
“These online self-paced lessons for blended learning, funded by the Walmart Foundation, are designed to enhance the literacy skills of struggling readers in grades 5–8. Each uses videos, interactive activities, note taking, reading, and writing to present students with an engaging science, social studies, mathematics, or English language arts topic.”
