GHSA 5A Final: Rome vs. Buford Football Fridays in Georgia
A stubborn Rome defense held #1 ranked Buford to 125 total yards as the Wolves claimed their first ever state championship with a 16-7 win in the 5-A title game. Quarterback Knox Kadum gave Rome a 10-7 lead with a 28-yard scoring run in the third quarter, then iced the game with an 18-yard run with 1:12 to play. It was the last game for Buford coach Jess Simpson whose career record was 164-12.
