Primary Content
Georgia Public Broadcasting aired special live programming Saturday, Jan. 4, honoring former President Jimmy Carter and covering the start of six days of funeral observances commemorating his life.
The broadcast, hosted by Pamela Kirkland and Peter Biello, followed the motorcade carrying Carter’s casket from Plains, Ga., to Atlanta, where he lay in repose at the Carter Presidential Center.
Along the way, listeners heard reflections from Plains residents, insights from GPB reporters, and commentary from Will and Jim Pattiz, filmmakers behind the documentary Carterland.
Guests highlighted Carter’s achievements as a humanitarian and peacemaker, alongside personal anecdotes from those who knew him — offering a glimpse of the man who never lost touch with his Georgia roots.
