Six Flags Over GPB

Here’s a riddle: How many flags does it take to get Fast Forward's attention? Trick question. We’re always paying attention. (I would have also accepted six.)

In case you haven’t guessed from that gem of an introduction, this blog is all about Fast Forward’s recent trip to Six Flags Over Georgia. This theme park is located just west of Atlanta and is pretty much synonymous with family fun here in the South. But while most people think of the park as simply a place to play, it’s also a great place to work. In fact Six Flags Over Georgia employs 2,500 people every summer, a few of whom our team got to sit down with as we tried to find out what makes this place tick. And yes (because I know you can never get enough puns) it was a thrill ride.

From the time we arrived it was clear that Six Flags employees love their jobs. And why wouldn’t they? When you work at a theme park, every day is like a vacation, except you get paid for it! And as it turns out, applying is pretty simple. Just go to sixflagsjobs.com, and before you know it you could be working alongside some of the South’s craziest coasters.

But Six Flags isn’t just about fast rides. They also have concerts, as well as a variety of live shows. No matter what the event or adventure, people are always lined up to be a part of it. I guess they must me doing something right!

And you won’t be surprised to hear that Six Flags is also a popular place for Georgia’s youth to find fun summer jobs. In fact, many of the full-time employees we spoke with began working here part-time in the summers when they were teens. And the experience was so much fun they decided to make a career out of it. (Can’t say I blame them.)

During our visit, Six Flags was just putting the finishing touches on its newest and tallest ride to date: SkyScreamer. We were only able to look at the time, but now the 24-story swing ride is open to the public, so during your next visit make sure to take it for a spin. (See what I did there?)
